The short answer: Whenever you’re able! Don’t worry, if you don’t have an overly flexible schedule – you’ll have an excellent visit no matter the time of year.
The long answer: Certain times of year are less busy than others and it really depends on what you want to see and do during your visit!
My favorite times to visit are mid-to-late January through early February – before most the Northeast has school break; and November – with the exception of Veterans Day and Thanksgiving week.
If you want to see the Magic Kingdom decorated for Halloween, plan your visit for mid to late August. It will be HOT and humid, but the crowds will be more manageable. The beginning of Disney’s Halloween season is also a good time to attend Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party. The party runs from mid August through Halloween.
September is also a great time to visit (with the exception of Labor Day weekend) as most the U.S. has gone back to school and the crowds are generally lower than the rest of the year.
If you want to visit when the parks are decked out for Christmas, aim for mid November. You’ll enjoy cool mornings and warm afternoons, and the crowds will be more manageable. This will also be a good time to attend Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party. The party runs from early November and ends in late December – before Christmas. The closer you get to Christmas, the more crowded the parks will be!
